UkrPlasma has developed and successfully applied the Microwave Plasma Solid Fuel Ignition System MiPS-SFI. This system is used to burn and stabilize the burning of particulate solid fuels and operates on the basis of a microwave plasmotron.
The burner is used on coal boilers of Coal-fired power station in order to heat boilers and stabilize the burning of coal dust without additional high-calorie natural fuels such as gas, fuel oil or diesel. Boilers equipped with plasma burners can be transferred to lower-quality, low-calorie, cheap coal without reducing their performance. In addition, biomass, waste and their mixture can be used as fuels while maintaining the technical, economic and environmental performance of energy units.
The MiPS-SFI has unique design solutions that provide a high efficiency of fuel flow interaction with the plasma torch and allow for a stable combustion in the cold boiler at low specific energy costs.
Additionally, it improves the maneuverability of boiler equipment when changing the load of power units. The smooth and adjustable change of the daily electric load, available with the plasma system for stabilization of fuel combustion modes in the boiler, helps reducing the load from the day level to 30-40% at night time.
Our system are compatible with thermal boilers of different capacity. Indeed, they can be installed both on large thermal power plants with a large installed capacity, and on local boiler equipment.
